Microsoft wants to complete Messenger to Skype migration by April end

Microsoft has already announced that they are shutting down their Messenger platform. Users are being asked to move to Skype which offer most of the functionalities of Live Messenger plus some more.

The company has now stated that the transition would begin in April. And by the end of the month, every account should be transferred.

It remains to be seen how the users react to this changeover. A lot of messaging platforms and apps do not support Skype. Pidgin is a good example. These apps are likely to be supported for a few months more but eventually the entire Messenger ecosystem would be shut down.

Microsoft has enabled Messenger account sign in in Skype for Windows 8, Windows Phone 8 and Windows RT devices.
